Cold Cuts was designed around the idea of creating a physical metaphor for a potluck. Fourteen guests were invited to a dinner party, and asked to each bring some charcuterie to share, interpreting “charcuterie” in whatever way they wished.

Upon arrival, each guest chose a charcuterie board from the dining table, and were prompted to arrange their charcuterie for serving in a way that suited their boards. The result was a variety of aesthetics and themes, from classic salami blossoms to a depiction of northern to southern Italy to a Sol LeWitt inspired instructional. Once finished, guests were tasked with returning their boards to the table, to puzzle their piece back into the assembly.

The disassembling, reassembling, growing, shifting array of provisions and boards served a playful reminder of how we come together to eat.
